To use the DNS extension, the PowerShell DNS module must be installed on the target server. The tool also allows you to create PTR type entries under a Reverse Lookup Zone. Existing DNS entries and their properties, such as FQDN, IP address, or TTL, can be edited. Moreover, admins can use it to create records of host type (A or AAAA), CNAME, or MX. Thus, the DNS module can display details of forward and reverse lookup zones, create them, and edit their properties (such as master server or dynamic updates).ĭisplaying DNS zones and their entries with the new DNS extension from WAC. The new extension handles most of the core features needed for this service. If you want to add a new computer to the list of managed systems, you can now trigger a search in the AD. Configure Windows Admin Center to connect to your DNS label and specify the credentials to use another account for this connectionĪfter you provisioned the VM, login to it using Remote Desktop.

Add a DNS label to your Public IP DNS (if you’re not using you’re own DNS).

Open the port 5985 in the NSG (inbound).

Netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name = 'WinRM-HTTP' dir = in localport =5985 protocol =TCP action =allow

Open the WinRM HTTP port in the Firewall:.

Make sure the WinRM service is setup to start automatically.

There’s plenty of articles around the internet about WinRM, but I wanted demonstrate here a quick way of getting started without researching too much. My goal was to be able to connect to it remotely, without having to remote desktop on it (the remote desktop is only a command line prompt). If you’re familiar with the Microsoft offering, Windows Server 2019 Datacenter Core does not have a UI.
